“The Norisring is something very special. I am proud to have been racing here for years. There are modern circuits with large run-off areas. But here, it is always really special,” Scheider said during a public press conference on the DTM show stage. “However, it annoys me that we haven’t won here for ten years. We will see whether our new fellow Audi driver Jamie Green, who is the king of the Norisring, will be able to change that.”
For Marco Wittmann, it is his first home race in the DTM. “I grew up only 15 kilometres from here and I watched the races at the Norisring when I was a kid. Later, I raced here myself in single-seaters and I was very proud of it. It is unbelievable what the people here have achieved over the years. I hope that the fans will be supporting the driver from Franconia in his first DTM season,” he said.
“The races at this street circuit are unique, but after 40 laps, you get a little bit dizzy. However, the great atmosphere when you are driving past the packed concrete grandstand makes up for everything,” Vietoris said. “In the past years, we have had a great run of victories and we want to continue like that. I am looking forward to a great race weekend.”
