IndyCar to try standing start again
IndyCar will make a second attempt at a standing start in race two of this weekend’s Toronto double-header after the race one start was waved off.

That rule was introduced following concerns over whether IndyCar clutches – which are not designed for standing starts – could survive two attempts in close succession.
Sunday’s race was earmarked for a traditional rolling start, however IndyCar president of race operations Brian Barnhart, who is also serving as race director this weekend in the absence of Beaux Barfield, said that the series owed it to the Toronto fans to give the standing start another try.
“The fans deserve to see a standing start, so after consultation with the promoter, we have made the decision to implement [a] standing start for Sunday’s race,” he said.
