Lorenzo to miss Laguna Seca as well

MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo will definitely miss next weekend’s United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca.

Lorenzo underwent surgery this weekend following the Sachsenring practice crash on Friday that caused fresh damage to the collarbone he had broken at Assen a fortnight ago.

That sidelined the Spaniard for this weekend’s German GP, and he announced on his personal Twitter account that he would not attempt to race again until Indianapolis in mid-August.

“To the people asking me about Laguna, I would like to say that I don’t want to take more risk and [want to] have a good recovery,” Lorenzo wrote. “See you in Indy!”

Lorenzo’s main title rival Dani Pedrosa is also missing the Sachsenring race following a practice accident of his own.

The Honda rider was given medical clearance to ride in the warm-up in Germany, but was still feeling dizzy and sat out the session. He was then ruled out of the race with low blood pressure.
