Kubica wants quick future decision

Ex-Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica will decide his future before the end of August, and is not ruling out leaving the World Rally Championship to return to circuit racing.

Kubica made the last-minute move to establish his own RK World Rally Team at the start of this year, but has been forced to overhaul the squad after the partnership between Italian outfit A-Style and his own team became unworkable.

The Polish star is adamant he will not face a similar race against time to put his 2016 programme in place.

“We need to start thinking about next year very soon,” he said.

“I do not want to be in this situation again.

“It is not so easy to come to rallies with no testing and not knowing what is going on.

“We have to sit down and see what is possible.”

Kubica’s co-ordinator Marcin Czachorski said there were several options on the table.

“We have some options we need to look at for next year with Robert – including some very interesting proposals to go back to racing again,” Czachorski told AUTOSPORT.

“But Robert is right that we need to make a quick decision on where we go – I think by the end of August.”

The 2008 Canadian Grand Prix F1 winner admitted he is still mentally adjusting to rallying after spending his entire career in circuit racing.

“I am not in a position from my side to compete equally,” said Kubica.

“I am still a racing driver. I am still thinking like a racing driver [in my approach to rallies].”
