Police probe DTM "push him out" clash

The DTM saga involving Audi and Timo Scheider’s ‘push him out’ Red Bull Ring move may not necessarily be over, with Austrian police now looking into the matter.

Last week, Germany’s DMSB governing body handed down its judgement on the controversy, headlined by Scheider’s suspension from this weekend’s round at Moscow Raceway.

Audi motorsport boss Wolfgang Ullrich, responsible for the message, has also been banned from the DTM pitlane for the rest of the year, the brand fined €200,000 and docked of its manufacturers’ championship points from the race.

While everyone within the DTM paddock is looking to move on, it has emerged that a police prosecutor in Loeben – within Styria, the Austrian state the circuit is located – is investigating the matter.

“We are investigating the driver and the alleged instigator of coercion and threat to the physical safety,” a spokesperson for the Leoben prosecutor told Germany’s Bild newspaper.

Scheider and Ullrich are reportedly set to be questioned, and when that investigation has concluded, a decision will be taken with regard to any possible further action.

“We know and confirm that there is an investigation against Dr Ullrich and Timo Scheider,” an Audi spokesman told AUTOSPORT.

“Please understand that we cannot make any further comments during the ongoing proceedings.”
