Drivers back Wilson fundraising auction

The majority of the 2015 IndyCar Series field have donated their Sonoma helmets to an auction organised by Graham Rahal to raise funds for former team-mate Justin Wilson’s family.

Rahal, who raced alongside Wilson at Newman/Haas in 2008, has arranged the auction of motorsport memorabilia for the Wilson’s Children Fund. It runs until October 26, with a different selection of items on offer each week.

“Justin was not just an incredible driver, he was an incredible person, team-mate and friend,” said Rahal.

“Through this auction, I hope we can raise as much money as possible to help provide for his wife, [and daughters] Jane and Jessica.”

Wilson was killed when struck by debris in the penultimate IndyCar race of the season at Pocono last month.
