The inaugural Mexico City ePrix will take place on the 12th March 2016 and use parts of the new, revamped track which made a welcomed return to the F1 calendar three weeks ago. The track will be modified for Formula E and be approximately 2.14km long, taking in the home straight and the new stadium section which holds 40,000 fans.

Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag says he is thrilled to take the all-electric sport to Mexico and mark the sport's first race away from a street circuit, although Formula E teams enjoy extensive testing at Donington Park in England.

“We are delighted to be taking Formula E to Mexico City,” Agag said. “This is one of the world's great cities, with a rich heritage and passion for motorsport. I'm confident the fans will create an amazing atmosphere and make the Mexico City ePrix one of the most memorable races of the season.”
