World Superbike rider van der Mark was announced as Valentino Rossi's replacement for this weekend's event, after the nine-time World Champion broke his leg in two places.

However, despite doctors suggesting a rest period of 30-40 days, Rossi pushed to return "as soon as possible" and got back on a bike after just 18 at Misano earlier this week.

He then cleared the required medical checks to compete at MotorLand and duly took part in Friday's pair of practice sessions, with van der Mark on standby.

Van der Mark's manager, Laurens Klein Koerkamp, told Eurosport that, to make up for – most likely – missing out this weekend, Yamaha will arrange a test run.

It is not yet clear when or where van der Mark's test will take place.

Van der Mark, a three-time winner of the Suzuka 8 Hours, holds sixth in this year's WSBK standings, equalling his best series result of second in Portugal last weekend.
