Vettel: Aston Martin a famous name back where it belongs

Sebastian Vettel said that he is “proud” to be a part of Aston Martin returning to Formula 1 as a works team for the first time since 1960.
The four-time world champion will race for the rebadged team in 2021 alongside Lance Stroll as the Silverstone outfit look to build on a fourth-place finish in the constructors’ from last season.
Vettel himself endured a tough 2020 with Ferrari but appeared reinvigorated and determined to make a success of his move across the grid.
“I can’t wait to start working with the team,” he said. “There’s so much for me to discover over the next few months and I’m incredibly determined to help make this team even more successful.
“Before we know it, we will be at the first race, seeing this famous name back where it belongs. I’m proud to be part of this journey.”
Stroll also looked upbeat about the team’s chances going forward. The young Canadian had an up and down 2020, taking pole position in Turkey and finishing on the podium twice, but also failing to score points at six of the 17 races and struggling in the battle with teammate Sergio Perez, who ended the year with 125 points to Stroll’s 75.
“Seeing Aston Martin back in Formula One is a huge deal,” he said.
“Whenever I’m at the factory you can feel the buzz and energy. We’re ready for this. There’s so much hunger in the team and I just can’t wait to get the season started.”
